During this 45th anniversary season, participation in the Bowling Green Club Championship is robust as 48 members will compete in 4 mens flights & a women’s flight on August 4th & 5th. After being revamped last year, the tournament’s two day format is gaining acceptance, if not popularity. Play starts off on the first day with everyone competing in stroke play. For the second round of the day ( Championship & “A” flights), the top 4 scores will compete in match play for two semi finalist spots on Sunday. The finals on Sunday will be 36 holes of match play. “B” & “C” flights and the women’s flight will take the top 2 scores on Saturday and play an 18 hole final on Sunday. Swelling the ranks of the mens Championship flight to 14 contestants are several juniors; demonstrating again that if one can take up golf as a youngster, the odds of becoming a low handicapper improve dramatically! The women’s Nancy Lopez flight also includes one junior.
